'Limited Use' taxation class ~ Is an MOT required?

An odd question perhaps but does anyone know if a vehicle in the 'Limited
Use' taxation class requires an MOT certificate in order to get the
required, but foc, tax disc?

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/TaxationClasses/DG_069649

says:
"You can tax your vehicle in the 'limited use' tax class if it's used solely
for purposes relating to agriculture, horticulre or forestry and:
It's used on public roads only in passing between different areas of land
occupied by you.
The distance it travels on public roads in passing between any two such
areas does not exceed 1.5 kilometres."
That is all it says.

I have a little Honda pick-up that I have used since 1987 for exactly the
purposes described above. It is kept on private land, some distance from any
public road.
Max. distance on public roads between 2 areas of land is about 50M. It is
used once a week at most and entirely for the purposes proscribed.
It is safe to drive but would not pass an mot test, and is not worth the
salt to get it through such an examination.
Very rural area but little Honda has been reported to the police. Plod have
now visited my property 3 times this year to check that it has not been
moved, I fully expect to be nicked if I use it again as it does not have the
little round piece of paper.
What really P's me off is that in 2010 we have had locally a murder, several
muggings and several burglaries.
Plod seems very much more intent on taking the soft option and pursuing
revenue increasing options.
Little Honda has not been mot'd or taxed since 1991. It is insured, 3rd
party only.
So I'm thinking of changing the taxation class to limited use but if mot is
required I may have to rethink.

My apologies for ranting and I hope the original question makes some sense.

Best wishes to all for 2010.

Many thanks,

Nick.

says no, and that's probably as reliable an answer as you'll find.

Probably the best people to insure your use of your vehicle as well.

Thanks very much Nick.
I didn't even think about looking at the NFU site, although they already
provide insurance for us.

I would doubt the insurance if it has no road tax or MOT.

Mr Pounder
Do you mean because it can be picked up on the DVLA database or whatever
the database is, for no tax or MOT?
